A 53-year-old man was shot dead by some armed men while he was working on a paddy field in Manipur's Kangpokpi district on Saturday (July 11, 2026) evening, officials said.
Haolal Singsit, a resident of Govajang village in the Kuki-majority district, died on the spot, while his wife, Nemneikim Singsit, escaped unhurt.
Villagers told officials that they heard around 20 rounds of gunfire around 4 p.m. on Saturday (July 11). Security forces rushed to the area, and the body has been recovered.
