“Rescue operation involving Indian Flagged MSV Virat 1 has been successfully completed. All 14 crew members have been rescued and are presently onboard Jabal Ali 9 heading to Mumbai. The crew members are safe and in good health,” the Mission said in a post on X.
Virat 1 was sailing off the coast of Oman, reportedly with 14 Indian crew members. The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf region.
Often based in Mumbai and Mandvi, Indian mechanised sailing vessels are smaller crafts that carry limited supplies, typically perishable food items, to the Persian Gulf countries.
Virat 1 was reported to be 50 metres in length and 12 metres in breadth.
