A Thiruvananthapuram court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of SFI district president Vijay Vimal filed in connection with the police case pertaining to the violence that broke out after the Enforcement Directorate inspection at the house of former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here on May 27.
The bail plea was rejected by Tania Mariam Jose, Judicial First Class Magistrate-III, Thiruvananthapuram. Photographic evidence showed that Mr. Vimal, named second accused in the case, intended to “encourage the attack” against ED officials. He also pelted a stone at one of the police officers, causing injury above his eye. Granting bail for these offences at this stage would encourage him to commit such offences in future, the court said in a June 3 order.
