YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) State coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy on Monday called for close monitoring of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls scheduled to begin in Andhra Pradesh on June 15.
At a meeting with the parliamentary observers appointed by the party to oversee the SIR process, Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy said the revision of electoral rolls was a crucial exercise and asked the party cadre to remain vigilant to ensure that the process was conducted in a clean and transparent manner.
He said Booth Level Agents (BLAs) would have a key role during the revision process and cautioned party leaders against deletion of votes belonging to YSRCP supporters, noting that restoring deleted votes after completion of the exercise would be difficult. He also advised voters to submit the required enumeration forms on time, warning that failure to do so could lead to deletion of their names from the electoral rolls.
Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy instructed the BLAs to be fully prepared even before the distribution of enumeration forms and asked them to create awareness among voters about keeping the necessary documents ready in advance. He also called upon senior YSRCP leaders to actively participate in monitoring the SIR process.
A review meeting would be held before the commencement of the SIR to finalise the action plan in detail, he added.
